Abstract Objectives Endometriosis is a disease specific to women which is largely under-diagnosed because it is often unrecognized in relation to painful symptomatology that is not very objective. It is characterized by cyclical pelvic pain concomitant with menstruation, but in some cases may present with complaints of a sexual nature. This work aims to report sexual complaints in patients with endometriosis and value them as elements of early diagnosis of this disease. Methods This is a cross-sectional descriptive study carried out on a series of young volunteer patients followed at the outpatient clinic of our unit for endometriosis confirmed either by imaging or by the anatomopathological study of biopsies carried out during laparoscopies. Participants answered a self-administered questionnaire. Results The study included 144 participants. The average age of the participants was 21.76 years with extremes ranging from 17 to 30 years. The average age of menarche was 12.25 with extremes ranging from 9 to 17 years. Sexual complaints were reported in 11 participants, i.e. in 7.64% of cases. Deep dyspareunia during intercourse accounted for 90.9% of sexual complaints. The pain was felt in certain positions and sexual practices, namely patient on the back or in the Andromaque position. Pain disturbed, prevented, or interrupted intercourse in 72.72% of cases with a decrease in desire and a disorder of secondary arousal and orgasm in respectively 27.27% and 36.36%. Conclusions Sexual complaints in patients with endometriosis remain infrequent under our skies but if they are present they are mainly of the type of deep dyspareunia altering the quality of sexual intercourse and may be responsible for secondary sexual dysfunctions. Conflicts of Interest Nothing to declare.
