The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge levels of mothers regarding home care management of diarrhoea and dehydration. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on home care management of diarrhoea and dehydration. To associate the relationship between the knowledge of mothers on home care management of diarrhoea and dehydration and selected demographic variables. Diarrhoea is the second leading killer of children. Nearly one in five children under the age of five dies as a result of dehydration, weakened immunity or malnutrition associated with diarrhoea. Though the mortality rate due to diarrhoea has reduced to 1.7 million, it continues to take a high toll in children in developing countries.1
