Conductance of dirty point contacts in a quantizing magnetic field

The effect of elastic scattering of current carriers in a point contact on the Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations in a longitudinal magnetic field is studied. It is shown that the scattering-induced isotropism of the electron distribution function increases the contribution of quantum oscillations of the density of states to charge transport. Oscillations with an increased amplitude and a de Haas–van Alphen period are accompanied by a nonmonotonic dependence of the contact resistnce on voltage, having a period ℏH/mc.
