Abstract
Notwithstanding many previous predictions of scarcity, the Unites States has about as much standing timer now as at the turn of the century. In the past two decades annual growth has been increasing in all major regions and for most major ownership classes. Continued increases can be expected. Prices will continue to rise, but probably not more steeply than in the past. Private owners are likely to expand their production if prices and markets are favorable.
